Hello, heykes, hoi hoi… We’re the cheerful, happy little ones from Mama Palma, and since we’ve reached the blessed age of over 12 weeks, Mama told us it’s time to start standing on our own two feet. But hmm… we don’t quite get it yet… Aren’t we already standing on our own two feet? Which feet would we be standing on otherwise??? Crazy Mama! We do understand though—she’s taken such good care of us here at the foster home, even though Mama would much rather just hang out freely in a nice garden. Being cooped up inside is really not her thing at all. So we’ve decided to be good, not ask too many questions, and put our best paws forward. At first glance, we look exactly alike—super cute for the foster moms, who can never tell which one of us is the “culprit” when some mischief breaks out again. Of course, we sisters Ivana and Sofia are a bit smaller than our brothers Rio and Luca, but we’re pretty tough too, you know. I, Ivana, am built a bit more delicately, but I’ll stand my ground if the boys ever act silly again. I’m not going to let them push me around! I’m a bit of a show-off and also incredibly curious. And then there’s me, Sofia—the special one. I have slightly different markings and happen to be the unlucky one of the bunch. Well, I went ahead and tried to play the tough chick again. Pfft—I thought I’d show off what I can already do and stormed up the stairs. Then, of course, I crashed spectacularly because a door opened—and what do I do… yep, that tough chick made a huge leap right down! Can you picture it already? Yeah, all the kitties land on their paws… including me—but not quite as neatly as they should have. For two whole days, I didn’t show any signs of it, but eventually the moms figured it out anyway… I wasn’t feeling great at all, and my paw was super swollen and oh, so painful! After a visit to the vet, where I got to pose for a photo, it turned out my paw was indeed broken—no doubt about it. And I got even worse news: four weeks of crate rest!!! OMG, I wish I’d been a bit more of a girl, I thought to myself. So yeah, I’ve been good, hoping everything would soon get better, and now I’m finally allowed to join in the fun again—which is so much fun that sometimes I forget I’m still in rehab or something like that and get called back onto the mat by the teacher: “Hey, missy, take it easy!” Pfft, I’ve got a really tough life. And now it’s our turn! We’re two handsome chicos, totally tough (hum hum) and with a gingerbread heart. We—Rio and me, Luca—are really good at pretending we’re not scared of anything. We run, jump, play till we’re exhausted—but let’s be honest, we still find everything new a bit scary at first. Still, I, Luca, am the toughest of us two. Rio—he’s, shh, don’t let him hear this—is kind of a mama’s boy and always rushes back to her whenever we get into trouble again. Of course, our mom is the safest place ever, but she keeps sending him back every time, saying: “Come on, Rio, you can do it. Nothing to be afraid of—just go ahead and play, explore, and enjoy. Everything will be fine, my little ones.” And that’s true—everything does work out. With some, it happens faster than with others, but together we’re strong. We’re not really into cuddling right now—we’re way too busy with other things. Laser pointers are awesome! Mice and balls—so much fun we’re having. But when our foster moms pick us up for a cuddle… it’s always a bit nerve-wracking, but our little motors are working perfectly, you know. A cuddle session can really do wonders. Are you looking for a sweet little face? Well, we’re ready for you! Preferably, of course, we’d love to move in pairs—that’s always a bit nicer and makes us feel steadier on our eight paws. Mixing is fine too, because we all like each other. But if you’ve got a cute little kitten at home who’s looking for a fun playmate… that could work out just fine too.
