Adopt Río

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Río walked into the dog pound with its paws, and we know nothing about its history—nor do we need to: from the moment it arrived, Río has shown us what a wonderful dog it is. It is submissive (even though it's only been here since June 2022, we see it sometimes dragging itself around), it's affectionate and sociable. It adores being brushed and pampered: in a word, a love. It's also a real charmer, as you can see, and now it just needs to find a family that falls in love with it. Do you want to adopt Río? It needs you, it's waiting with hope. Contact: 667849696 - 657961568 www.protectoradepalencia.org. Check out Río's photo album: Search Instagram for: and give a follow! If you can't take in or adopt, help us spread the word, share, give a like… You never know which "share" will lead to its home.

¿Quieres adoptar a RÍO? Te necesita, te espera con ilusión???? About Río

What life with Río looks like

Río is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Protectora Defensa Animal Palentina in Spain.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Río, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Río?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Protectora Defensa Animal Palentina handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Río on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Río if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Protectora Defensa Animal Palentina will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Río already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Río isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Protectora Defensa Animal Palentina early rather than rehoming privately; they know Río and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
