Our 4 Musketeers: Sira, Ona, Alma & RIO A joyful group of puppies full of life, mischief and tenderness, ready to explore the world with their future family in Switzerland. Sociable, playful, curious and already very affectionate, they are real little "storms of happiness": they run, they play, they make mischief, they ask for cuddles... in short, the life of a puppy in all its splendor! Behind their cute faces are also future dogs who will become beautiful and deeply attached to their humans, provided they are given gentle, consistent and caring education. These puppies have everything to learn: cleanliness, gradual separation, daily discoveries, walks, meetings... They therefore look for families ready to invest patience, love and humor in this beautiful adventure. Born from a local pound in Spain with their siblings, they now have the chance to hope for a new life. Energetic, affectionate and full of potential puppies, who are waiting for one thing: to finally grow up surrounded by love in Switzerland. First-time adopters welcome. Very high availability during the day (outings every 2-3 hours) for cleanliness. Essential presence. Good physical condition and great patience essential. Mandatory commitment in a regular educational and socialization program (followed by the association). Other dogs accepted if they are balanced and sterilized. Secure garden is a plus for cleanliness, but if there is no garden it is mandatory to have small green areas nearby and quickly accessible for regular needs. Minimum of stairs. If above the second floor, elevator is mandatory. Thoughtful and committed adoption in the long term. We always prefer non-city and large buildings contexts. We will only respond to adoption requests that meet the specified criteria. At the end of the contact form there is a message area, we like to read real motivations and useful additional information there.

About RIO

What life with RIO looks like

RIO is a puppy/kitten dog waiting at Association Coeurs de Chiens in Lausanne (VD).

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting RIO, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about RIO?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Association Coeurs de Chiens handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw RIO on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt RIO if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Association Coeurs de Chiens will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is RIO already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if RIO isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Association Coeurs de Chiens early rather than rehoming privately; they know RIO and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
