Adopt Rio

Male

Rio came to the animal shelter as a puppy - abandoned by his caretakers during vacation. Perhaps he got bored, or maybe someone lost patience with the lively pup ... Either way, he grew up in the shelter's kennel and matured into a beautiful, cheerful dog of the shepherd type. Rio is a real "Tigrysek" - full of vigor, enthusiasm and good energy. He loves movement and play. He enjoys splashing in water, swimming and retrieving toys from the water. However, he needs a reasonable amount of play, as he can get overexcited. In the car, he behaves without problems: he observes his surroundings, but also knows how to rest calmly during the trip. Despite his large amounts of energy, Rio does not pull on the leash during walks and calmly explores his surroundings. He pays attention to the caregiver and comes when called. He is a friendly and trusting dog. He likes contact with people. With other dogs, he is sometimes different, but with the help of volunteers, he makes great progress. He has his canine companions, with whom he gladly goes for walks and slowly opens up to new friendships. He is naturally a social dog, but sometimes lacks practice in the first dog greeting. The animal shelter is not an easy place for Rio: in confinement he quickly gets excited and it is difficult for him to release excess energy 🙁 For Rio we are looking for a caregiver who will continue his socialization and provide him with daily exercise and opportunities to explore the world. A house in a quiet, peaceful area would suit him best - city noise and an excess of stimuli may be too overwhelming for Rio. 🔵 Are you interested in adoption? Rio to prawdziwy „Tygrysek” – pełen wigoru, entuzjazmu i dobrej energii. Kocha ruch i zabawę. About Rio

What life with Rio looks like

Rio is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Fundacja Viva Korabiewice in Korabiewice.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rio, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rio?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Viva Korabiewice handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rio on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rio if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Viva Korabiewice will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rio already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rio isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Viva Korabiewice early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rio and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
