adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Riva has found her home! Her story: Riva – affectionately also known as Tilda – is a beautiful young female dog with a gentle nature and a heart that yearns for security. She captivates with her unique brindle fur pattern and her friendly gaze. In February 2024, Riva was allowed to travel to her own home as a puppy. There, she is loved and cared for, but life is not always predictable. Due to a change in circumstances, her family can no longer keep her – a decision that is not easy for anyone. Now, the pretty Riva waits for her second chance with people who will take her in with sensitivity and give her a Forever Home. Riva is a curious, playful, and spirited young female dog with heart and character. She loves exploring the world, but in new situations, she can be a bit cautious. Once she has built trust, she becomes clingy and cuddly. In the household, she lives with children, cats, and one other dog and gets along with all of them wonderfully. Even staying alone with her dog friend works out well, as her kennel gives her security and is her favorite retreat. She also has no problems with other dogs. Riva is looking for a loving, empathetic family that will accompany her through life and give her the time she needs to adjust to the new circumstances. A positively working dog training class would be a great way to help her new family. She is intelligent and active – both mental and physical stimulation are important for her. Riva was born in Fantanele, Romania, with her 10 siblings Ria, Starsky, Ella, Narvik, Tora, Samweis, Ari, Tayto, Easy, and Poldi near a kindergarten. Her start in life was hard, but she was lucky: she was saved and was able to travel to a family. Now, she needs people who will open their hearts to her again. Riva is available for adoption at any time. She is microchipped and vaccinated and brings her EU pet passport. Will you give the young female dog a second chance? Many thanks Gritt K.! You have given Riva her name and thus her own identity! As of 18.03.

Stand 18.03.2025

About Riva

What life with Riva looks like

Riva is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Riva, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Riva?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Riva on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Riva if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Riva already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Riva isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Riva and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
