Robe &#8211

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 6 years

It leaps, it jumps, it spins in mid-air—and then it jumps and bounces again! That’s Robe, our newest arrival at our partners’ shelter, “El Buen Amigo.” The handsome Sharpei-mix leaps with boundless energy. He was thrown out of a car by his kind male owner, who simply got rid of him by abandoning him on the roadside and driving away. Neighbors witnessed the scene and called both the Guardia Civil and our friends, allowing Robe to be immediately taken into the shelter’s care, never to meet those people again who so cruelly rid themselves of him. Here, the approximately 6-year-old (as of January 2025) male dog shows a completely uncomplicated side. He gets along wonderfully with his four-legged companions, showing a preference for the female gender, which is not unusual. At first, Robe was a bit confused and scared, likely due to the sudden change in his living environment and trusted people, but now he is an extremely friendly, affectionate, and laid-back companion. Curious and open-minded, he follows his “people” everywhere, wanting to see exactly what is being done, and has no touch sensitivities. Children don’t bother him at all; in fact, if a little person wants to play with him, Robe couldn’t be happier. Now, he has become a real ray of sunshine, spreading good cheer everywhere. In my opinion, a dog like Robe in his prime is a real winner. Puberty and its trials are long behind him, but as a bright mind, he is more than ready to learn many new things and has the best part of his life still ahead. If you want to open your home and heart to our beam of sunshine, Robe’s contact information is directly above this text. This animal was abandoned.

About Robe &#8211

What life with Robe &#8211 looks like

Robe &#8211 is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Robe &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Robe &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Robe &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Robe &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Robe &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Robe &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Robe &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
