adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Roberto has found his people! His story: Our dear Roberto has been in Germany for a year now. He originally came from a private foster home in Romania. Unfortunately, he had to leave his family for private reasons and is now searching for loving people who would like to give him a new home. Roberto loves spending time with people, enjoys playing outdoors, and enjoys long walks. He is well socialized and gets along with both children and other dogs. Roberto likes to play and frolic in the garden, alone or in the company of people and dogs. In new situations, he is very cautious and reacts to large, black-clad men with some fear. Then he becomes a little puppy and seeks protection with his people. This passes quickly when he feels the situation is not threatening and he feels protected. Roberto knows the basic commands and can also be left alone without any problems. His family is very important to him, and when guests come, he welcomes them and greets people after a thorough evaluation and getting to know them. Roberto loves having visitors and is happy to have dog visitors. Unfortunately, he is not so good with cats; they should be kept away from him. He might have some herding dog genes in him. Therefore, we would like a more rural home for him, with not many changing trusted people. Additionally, we would like an active family for Roberto who enjoy being outdoors just as much as he does. Roberto loves being mentally stimulated so that he is fully engaged. And of course, plenty of cuddles are not to be missed! Roberto is approximately 2 years old and has a shoulder height of about 58 cm. If you would like to meet the lovely Roberto, feel free to contact us. Roberto will come to his new home microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. Of course, he will bring his EU pet passport with him. For an adoption fee of 500 Euros and only after a positive evaluation, he is not neutered. Would you like to become Roberto's best friend? Many thanks, Ursula D.! You named Roberto! Date: 04.02. This animal can be anxious in unfamiliar situations.

Vielen Dank Ursula D.! Du hast Roberto seinen Namen geschenkt. Stand: 04.02.2025

About Roberto

What life with Roberto looks like

Roberto is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Roberto, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Roberto?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Roberto on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Roberto if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Roberto already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Roberto isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Roberto and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
