Adopt Robi

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

♂, born ca. May 2021 - social - active from Bulgaria VERMITTLUNGSHILFE Robi is a mixed-breed male dog born in ca. May 2021, standing at a shoulder height of ca. 45 cm and weighing ca. 25 kg. Robi was found alone and hungry on a cemetery in Bulgaria. At that time, he was a small puppy of 40 days old, whimpering helplessly and left alone after his mother and siblings. An animal rescuer could not look away; the puppy would not have had a chance of survival alone. He was immediately taken in and given food. His hunger was very great. In a private foster home, Robi has developed very well and is a valuable member of the pack. He gets along equally well with female and male dogs. In the foster home, several adult dogs of different ages, genders, and temperaments live together. For Robi, this is no problem; he is very social. In the foster home, there is a large dog run where all the adult dogs can run, play, and move freely. He is familiar with the dog leads, but it is common for the dogs to come into the large run. Leash training is not as regularly practiced. But Robi is a lively and very open male dog. When called by name, Robi comes immediately. Basic commands still need to be trained with him. He is trainable and attending a dog training class would not be amiss. Robi loves people. He makes no difference between genders. In the foster home, he is supervised by our animal rescuer and her husband. He enjoys cuddles and being knuddled and hugged. Robi could also be rehomed with an employee-friendly family. He is still young and active. A family that shows him the new world in a beautiful home. The children should be at least around 8 years old and respectful in their dealings with Robi. Robi loves ball games and other toys. Retrieving might be a good mental stimulation to train with him. Cats should not be in his new home, as he does not like them. Just like the city, Robi would prefer a quieter suburban area or the countryside. Otherwise, Robi has a wonderful personality and deserves a beautiful home. Robi is vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and has already been tested negative for Mediterranean diseases. He is in a private foster home in Bulgaria. The adoption fee for Robi is 480 Euro. About Robi

What life with Robi looks like

Robi is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. in Berlin.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Robi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Robi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Robi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Robi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Robi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Robi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Robi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
