Robin

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Robin - Step by step to happiness Robin is developing really wonderfully at his foster home. Considering where he came from and how little he has experienced of life in a family so far, he is doing an amazing job. He learns well from the existing dogs, calms down and shows more and more trust every day. Robin is now housebroken, enjoys walks very much and is becoming more comfortable with the presence of his humans. He can now properly accept petting - something that is not always obvious for many dogs with a shelter background. You can tell that he wants to settle in and is ready to embrace his new life. In daily life, Robin is friendly, gentle and social. He travels well in the car and walks nicely on a leash - calmly and without much fuss. Basically, Robin is a gentle giant who is learning step by step how beautiful a life in security can be. A confident dog by his side would do him good, because unfamiliar things still unsettle him. Loud noises or machines often scare him - simply because he has never encountered them before. With a secure first or second dog by his side, it is easier for him to assess situations and gain trust. And then there is his little quirk: Robin loves to tear things apart. Whether a blanket, paper or toy - sometimes it becomes a small creative activity. But this is also lovingly worked on, and Robin is learning step by step what is allowed and what is not. His foster home has already taken him to their heart - and Robin quickly manages to do the same with his quiet, gentle manner. He is not a dog who pushes himself forward. Rather, he quietly arrives and slowly sneaks into people's hearts. Would you like to take Robin's paw and give him his forever basket? Then feel free to contact his assigned adoption officer.

About Robin

What life with Robin looks like

Robin is a extra-large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Robin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Robin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Robin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Robin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Robin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Robin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Robin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
