adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Rocco currently lives in a public shelter in Romania and is waiting to be discovered by his family. He wishes for a quiet, cozy dog bed and people who will love him and not let him go. The approximately 6.5-year-old Rocco is about 65 cm tall and has beautiful light brown speckled fur. Through his fur pattern, he is a real looker. With his hazel eyes, he looks hopefully toward a better future. He now wants to leave his past behind. We do not know what he has already experienced in his life, but it was likely not an easy one. Through the dog catchers, the sweet little boy then arrived at the shelter. Rocco was initially very scared and had to understand the new situation. He must learn to trust people again with patience. Currently, he shows himself to be shy but curious, sniffing interestedly at hands, and being touched is still a bit eerie. He has also gotten used to wearing a harness and has never shown aggression. He gets along well with fellow animals. For Rocco, we are looking for patient dog friends who know what to expect and are willing to accept him as he is. He needs someone who will give him the time to settle into his new home and stand by him with love and understanding. He likely does not know what life with a family is like and therefore does not know any rules or house training. His new family should therefore be patient with him and forgive small mistakes at the beginning. A foster home could also be very helpful for him. We cannot rule out that Rocco carries herding dog genes. Accordingly, we are looking for a rural home with an enclosed yard. Herding dogs bring great qualities. People who already have experience with herding dogs do not want other breeds anymore, as they, despite their thick skulls, are very loyal companions. Also, after a phase of getting used to things, Rocco would benefit from attending dog training classes that work with positive reinforcement. There, he could play with other dogs and learn the dog ABC together with his people. Rocco travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. He brings his EU pet passport with him and can be adopted after a positive match. Do you finally give the cute Rocco his forever home? Many thanks, Alexa H. Because of you, Rocco has a great name and thus a chance to find his family. A big thank you also goes to Larissa O., who has taken on a monthly sponsorship for Rocco. As of: 18.02.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Rocco

What life with Rocco looks like

Rocco is a extra-large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rocco, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rocco?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rocco on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rocco if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rocco already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rocco isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rocco and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
