Rocco

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Rocco has been with us at the animal shelter for several weeks now, and in this time we've come to know him well. He is a young, confident male dog with a lot of energy and a strong but also very loving personality. The shelter routine is currently still challenging for him, as here he doesn't always get to express himself as much as he would like. Especially at the beginning of walks, it becomes clear that a lot of energy and excitement have built up. Then, Rocco often reacts very lively and attentively to his surroundings: pedestrians, joggers, or cyclists do not escape his notice. This behavior is less about insecurity than it is an expression of a lack of stimulation and clear orientation. Rocco needs people who meet him with calmness, clarity, and confidence. We often see how positively he responds to a safe and consistent leadership. When he receives this, he can clearly relax, become more approachable, and settle down. Away from the hustle and bustle, Rocco shows his calm and loving side. In a relaxed environment, he loves to sniff around, sit comfortably in the grass, and enjoy the proximity of his primary caregiver. Napping sessions are a natural part of his routine. For Rocco, we wish to find active, dog-experienced people who enjoy working with him and giving him the stimulation, structure, and security he needs. With the right guidance and orientation, Rocco will surely become a loyal, balanced, and faithful companion with whom you can conquer the world together. Rocco is a small mixed-breed male dog with soft, multi-colored fur and a friendly nature. He was found alone on the streets of Bucharest and has since lived in our partner shelter. Like many dogs who were abandoned, he initially shows some caution but clearly seeks the company of people. At the animal shelter, Rocco shared his run with several other dogs and showed a compatible and social demeanor, making a home with a confident single dog a good possibility. However, a single place is also an option. For his future home, we wish to find people who can give him clear structures, security, and reliable guidance. Rocco is strongly oriented towards his trusted people and needs an environment where he receives understandable routines and patient guidance. With a bit of time to settle in, he opens up quickly and then shows himself as a devoted, friendly companion. We see Rocco in a family with older, understanding children, with a couple, or with a single person.

About Rocco

What life with Rocco looks like

Rocco is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rocco, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rocco?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rocco on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rocco if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rocco already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rocco isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rocco and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
