Adopt Rocky-2

Mixed Breed · Male

Training: Rocky is a 4-year-old Belgian Malinois with great energy, intelligence, and strong attachment to his caregiver. We are looking for a responsible, consistent, and experienced person who understands the needs of working dogs and desires a demanding but extremely rewarding companion. Rocky has a strong temperament and gets excited easily, so he needs a person who can wisely direct his emotions and energy. He loves working with people, is motivated by food and toys (like tug toys), which makes him well-suited for further training and various activities. When he trusts someone, he can calm down - he rests in the socialization room or his crate in the presence of a person. In stress, he seeks support from the caregiver, although then his behavior can become intense: jumping, grabbing at sleeves, rushing towards faces. He responds well to redirecting emotions to toys (e.g., a tug toy or a stuffed animal), sometimes he needs the toy given several times to come down from high arousal. Rocky can be shy towards environmental stimuli. He avoids street movement, may stop or try to turn his caregiver around. He reacts to loud sounds and excessive stimuli, gets easily excited. Therefore, he needs a quiet, predictable environment and a caregiver who gradually and sensitively introduces him to urban situations. Rocky is not a dog for everyone. With unfamiliar people, he requires careful introduction and maintaining appropriate distance, especially at the beginning of the acquaintance. In interactions with other dogs, he reacts negatively (has problems passing other dogs), so he needs a caregiver who can safely lead him in public spaces and work on his behavior towards stimuli. For Rocky, we are looking for a very specific home: - a person with experience working with Belgian Malinois, sporting dogs, or high-energy dogs - a consistent, emotionally stable, and risk-aware leader who is aware of the challenges of handling such a demanding dog - a home without children and preferably without other animals - people ready for regular training (preferably with the support of an experienced trainer of working or sporting dogs) - a quiet neighborhood where he can gradually and controlledly be desensitized to new stimuli Before adoption, multiple introductory meetings with the potential caregiver and building a relationship in a calm way will be necessary. If you are looking for a dog with whom you can build an exceptional bond, you are consistent, active, and aware of the demands of this breed - Rocky could be just for you.

Usposobienie: Rocky to około 4‑letni owczarek belgijski malinois o ogromnej energii, inteligencji i silnym przywiązaniu do swojego opiekuna. Dlatego potrzebuje spokojnej, przewidywalnej okolicy i opiekuna, który będzie wprowadzał go w miejskie sytuacje stopniowo i z wyczuciem.

About Rocky-2

What life with Rocky-2 looks like

Rocky-2 is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu in Poznan.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rocky-2, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rocky-2?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rocky-2 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rocky-2 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rocky-2 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rocky-2 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rocky-2 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
