Rocky

Belgian Malinois · Male

Rocky ID No.: 1034237 Breed: Malinois Age: approx. 09/2018 Sex: male Shoulder height: 67 cm Neutered: Yes Location: Marbella (Spain) Inquiry form Strong, sensitive, exceptional – Rocky is looking for people with heart and understanding. Rocky (*approx. 09/2022, approx. 67 cm) is an impressive, stunningly beautiful Malinois male dog. Since 2022, he has been living at our Spanish partner shelter, Triple A Marbella, where he has shown himself to be a calm and loyal dog who forms close bonds especially with trusted people. Rocky loves long walks, closeness to his trusted people, and clear, reliable routines. Once he has gained trust, he greets his human warmly, clingily, and attentively. He cherishes every shared minute, is obedient, and actively seeks affection—without ever being pushy. However, his past was not easy. Rocky was rescued from a warehouse after his previous owner could no longer care for him. Following surgery, he spent several weeks recovering in a foster home, where he settled in well. At home, he behaves quietly, is house-trained, doesn’t destroy anything, and hardly barks. He also has no issues with car rides and cooperates well at the vet’s. Nevertheless, Rocky needs highly dog-experienced people who can read him well and are willing to continue working with him. In the past, there have been isolated incidents involving humans. When he felt cornered or his freedom of movement was restricted, he has gone after people—not his handlers, but passersby who approached him very directly, for example. It’s possible that Rocky was trained for protection work. Therefore, he currently lives in a separate section of the shelter accessible only to trained personnel. Under experienced guidance, however, he appears noticeably more relaxed and has made visible progress over the past few years. He responds to recall commands, walks well on leash, and can even calmly stay in a bar or restaurant after a walk. In busy environments or places with many stimuli, he wears a muzzle preventively, which he accepts well. With other dogs, Rocky is reserved. On walks, he tolerates calm, confident dogs but does not seek active dog companionship. He has always lived as a single dog and should remain so in his new home. Conflicts may arise if he encounters insecure or overly pushy dogs. Inside the house, he wants his own retreat space and does not want to share his food with fellow animals. He also does not get along with cats and is unsuitable for living with children. Physically, Rocky is fit and has fully recovered from cruciate ligament surgery on his left hind leg. He loves water—whether it’s a lake, the beach, or the animal shelter pool—and can relax wonderfully there. He shows no sensitivity to loud noises, traffic, or excited barking from other dogs. We hope Rocky finds a quiet home in a rural setting, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, where he can find peace while still being appropriately supported. His future family should have extensive dog experience, especially handling complex characters, and be ready to give him time, structure, and security. With patience, expertise, and clear boundaries, Rocky has the potential to become a loyal and stable companion. Rocky is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and holds an EU pet passport. Before travel arrangements are finalized, he will be tested for Mediterranean diseases and treated for worms and fleas. About Rocky

What life with Rocky looks like

Rocky is a adult belgian malinois dog waiting at Helfende Hände e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rocky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rocky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Helfende Hände e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rocky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rocky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Helfende Hände e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rocky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rocky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Helfende Hände e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rocky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
