Jackie, a six-year-old Malinois female dog, has been enriching our animal shelter for several weeks. As a surrender dog, she came to us because the living conditions could no longer be maintained. Jackie is very people-friendly, people-oriented, and compatible with fellow animals, but she shows a natural lack of aggression towards fellow animals unless she is not properly introduced and possesses a pronounced prey drive (wild). Her energy and attention are immense and require experienced and time-investing hands. Breed experience, combined with positive reinforcement, is essential to meet Jackie’s needs and train her appropriately. Special attention must also be given to her talents for tracking and the necessary consequences and training. If one cannot sustain this (tracking training) long-term, it should be avoided to start and continue training, as a dog with such a pronounced prey drive/ hunting instinct often suffers greatly when such a component of daily life is no longer present. A secure outdoor enclosure is also essential, as Jackie has successfully escaped in the past. Jackie is unneutered, in good health, and ready for a new life in an experienced, empathetic environment.

Jackie, eine sechsjährige Malinois-Hündin, bereichert unser Tierheim seit einigen Wochen. Als Abgabehündin kam sie zu uns, da die Haltungsvoraussetzungen nicht mehr erfüllt werden konnten. Jackie ist sehr menschenfreundlich, menschenbezogen und Artgenossen gegenüber verträglich, zeigt aber eine natürliche Distanzlosigkeit Artgenossen gegenüber insofern sie nicht zurecht gewiesen wird und besitzt einen ausgeprägten Jagdtrieb (Wild). Ihre Energie und Aufmerksamkeit sind immens und erfordern erfahrene und Zeit investierende Hände. Rasseerfahrung, kombiniert mit positiver Bestärkung, ist unerlässlich, um Jackie ihren Bedürfnissen entsprechend auszulasten und zu trainieren. Besondere Aufmerksamkeit muss auch ihren Talenten für Fährtensuche und die notwendige Konsequenz und Training gewidmet werden. Kann man dieses (Fährtensuche Training) nicht dauerhaft leisten, sollte man davon absehen, dieses anzufangen zu trainieren und weiter zu fördern, da ein Tier mit solch einem ausgeprägten Hang zum Jagdtrieb/ Beutetrieb häufig stark darunter leidet, wenn ein solcher Bestandteil des täglichen Lebens wieder entfällt. Ein ausbruchssicherer Garten ist ebenfalls unabdingbar, da Jackie in der Vergangenheit erfolgreich ausgebrochen ist. Jackie ist unkastriert, in einem guten gesundheitlichen Zustand und bereit für ein neues Leben in einem erfahrenen, empathischen Umfeld.
