Rocky

Male · Young · 3 years

The Rocky is a one-year-old adolescent dog who entered the animal shelter with a lot of fear. He came to Cau because his owner had to move to another province for work and could no longer take care of him. He had lived in a house since he was very young, and therefore, arriving at the animal shelter was very difficult for him. The first two days he was very frightened and mistrustful of everyone, he hid so we couldn't see him and didn't want to leave his cage. With a lot of love, patience and kind words, we have managed to make him lose his fear and now he is very sociable with everyone. He likes going for walks, but he pulls quite hard on the leash when we think he shouldn't go out much from home, and therefore, this is a normal behavior. Being in a house and having daily walks would probably be different. We have introduced him to several dogs and he is calm and friendly; at some moments he tries to play, but he is more attentive to people and pets. He is very fun and affectionate, we hope he finds a home soon and it's the final one. He is neutered, vaccinated, dewormed and has a chip. CA·Show original

About Rocky

What life with Rocky looks like

Rocky is a young adult dog waiting at Cau Amic in Spain.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rocky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rocky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Cau Amic handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rocky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rocky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Cau Amic will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rocky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rocky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Cau Amic early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rocky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (CA). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
