Rocky

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Size: 60cmAge: *11/2024. Compatible withMales: YesFemales: YesCats: Not yet testedSince we have had: Location: CAAD Castellbisal June 2026 – We took Rocky (Malinois) in when he was still a puppy. He had lived with people who did not keep their animals in an appropriate manner. The people already had an unneutered and very muscular male dog, which Rocky initially accepted completely without any problems. As Rocky entered puberty, the older dog would regularly bite and bully him. Therefore, they brought him to us. At that time, Rocky was an intelligent but very stressed young puppy, lacking the necessary orientation and support. We have been working with him, and we can say today that he is ready to move into a new home. Rocky is friendly, eager to learn, and in a good mood. Physically, he is healthy, fit, athletic, and naturally also active, which is typical for this breed. From his character, he is still very balanced for his age. He enjoys car rides and likes to accompany his people on excursions. Rocky is very loving and compatible, he enjoys being out in nature and also likes to go into the water. Trips into the city also make him very happy, and he meets strangers friendly and open-minded. He also gets along well with his fellow animals. Rocky is still a raw diamond, eager to learn and discover the world with his people. For Rocky, we are looking for a home with people who are familiar with this breed, who can challenge him with head and nose work, direct his energy into the right paths, and are ready to work with and support him. Rocky is not a dog for beginners or couch potatoes. If you can offer Rocky the right home and have a desire for training, we look forward to a message from you. Whoever adopts Rocky will get a loyal and wonderful companion for many years. This animal has a history of biting. This is a young, adolescent dog.

About Rocky

What life with Rocky looks like

Rocky is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tiere in Spanien e.V. in Hamburg.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rocky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rocky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tiere in Spanien e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rocky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rocky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tiere in Spanien e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rocky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rocky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tiere in Spanien e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rocky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
