adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! When you look at Rocky, you immediately notice: He is a true survivor. His body tells a sad story, underlined by his name – he has fought and survived. He is full of scars. An old fracture on his left hind leg required amputation, which has now occurred and has given him a pain-free life. Rocky belongs to a group of dogs that were mistreated in a village. Arriving injured and completely terrified, they came. Rocky does not yet know what love and tenderness mean. When you stroke him, he looks at you confused. This is hardly surprising when all you have known are blows. In essence, Rocky is a good, quiet boy with the calm demeanor of an older dog. Just like his famous namesake, he is ready to take a new beginning and leave the ring of fear behind. He merely needs a person who can show him that the world can also be gentle. With patience, he will learn to enjoy cuddles and feel how beautiful a life without fear is. Rocky gets along well with other dogs. Currently, he lives on his foster home in a small pack with two other male dogs and two female dogs. The cohabitation runs harmoniously; in contact with fellow animals, it usually works well, as it does with us all, where sympathy decides. He shows no problem with cats. Due to the amputation and his age, Rocky should be regularly physiotherapeutically accompanied to maintain muscle tone, mobility, and quality of life in the long term. An apartment on ground level or a house with very few stairs is therefore highly desirable. Rocky currently lives on a foster home, but he is searching for his final home, where he can finally find peace. He can manage a one-hour walk without problem, but one should not overdo it. Will you give this brave, unshakable Rocky the chance at his final victory – a happy life in love and security? He will thank you with his calm, grateful nature. Rocky has more than earned a happy ending. Rocky travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas to his new home. Also, his EU pet passport is in his luggage. Thank you, Mara H.! With your namesake sponsorship, you make it possible for Rocky to have a happy future. Here you can find a donation campaign for Rocky's costs: As of 30.01.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! About Rocky

What life with Rocky looks like

Rocky is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rocky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rocky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rocky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rocky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rocky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rocky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rocky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
