Rocky

Rottweiler · Male · Adult · 4 years

Rocky is a neutered Rottweiler male. He originally comes from Romania and has not learned much in his previous life, which is why he still has some areas for improvement. Unfortunately, in Romania he was a chained dog whose only pleasure was chasing cars and bicycles. For this reason, he currently has the problem of wanting to continue chasing everything. His walker and a dog trainer are currently working on training him to stop this behavior. Rocky gets along quite well with most strangers from the start, but in rare cases he shows dislike for certain people. Due to his hunting instinct and his rough nature, no cats and no children should live in his new home. Since he was raised in isolation, he does not get along well with his own kind at first. He needs to learn the typical dog language. Rocky has no basic training, but he is willing to learn and also obeys when clearly spoken to. Despite all this, perseverance is required in his training, but due to his willingness to learn, a great companion dog can be made through consistent guidance. If you have the necessary experience and time and would like to work with him, you can contact the Memmingen Animal Shelter. Dog walking times (dog walkers) Closed on public holidays.

DE·Show original

Ausführzeiten Hunde (Gassigänger) An gesetzlichen Feiertagen geschlossen.

About Rocky

What life with Rocky looks like

Rocky is an adult rottweiler dog waiting at Tierheim Memmingen in Memmingen.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rocky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rocky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Memmingen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rocky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rocky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Memmingen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Rocky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rocky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Memmingen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rocky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
