Rodeo

Mixed Breed · Unknown

An extremely likeable, young man with wonderful curls and sparkling eyes is looking for a family. Rodeo - and with our funny new arrival, the name is truly fitting - was one of those dogs who never had to be rescued from the street; no, all you had to do was offer him a ride, and he was already on the passenger seat heading towards a new life. Rodeo was already well-known in a small village near Seville - well, like a colorful dog, of course - and our charmer has the color of delicious caramel candies. The extremely people-friendly water dog mix constantly sought attention, cuddles, and knew exactly which buttons to push to get a treat from every small shop, the village café, and hikers. Unfortunately, not everyone in Andalusia is kind to strays, and so it's good that our photo model with the funny bright red nose is now safe from poisoned food, animal torturers, and dog catchers. In Arca, our two-year-old (as of 01/2022) protégé shows as an extremely playful, intelligent gentleman who gets along great with other dogs, enjoys visits, loves children, and is just waiting to find fans who want to give him their own ball - and of course a comfortable spot on the couch, a window seat in the car, and above all, lots of love, patience, and humor. Rodeo shows many breed-specific characteristics of the Perro de Agua, which means first and foremost that he doesn't want to be a couch potato. Water dogs are smart, people-oriented working dogs that need to be kept busy and occupied. So if you're interested in a clever, athletic, absolutely cuddly, child-loving, cookie-obsessed curly-haired little guy who will bring a smile to your face every day, know that Rodeo is exactly the right dog waiting for your application!

DE·Show original

About Rodeo

What life with Rodeo looks like

Rodeo is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rodeo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rodeo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rodeo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rodeo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rodeo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rodeo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rodeo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
