Rodney

Mixed Breed Cat · Male · Young · 2 years

Rodney is an incredibly sweet and affectionate boy who has quickly become a firm favourite with both staff and volunteers. He settled into our care straight away and has shown us what a friendly, easy-going character he is.This handsome lad loves the comforts of home and can often be found curled up in a warm, cosy bed enjoying a well-earned snooze. While Rodney will need access to the outdoors to explore and enjoy the fresh air, we suspect he'll spend much of his time relaxing indoors where it's warm and comfortable.Rodney is a total pleasure to be around and tolerates handling very well. He enjoys human company and is always happy to receive fuss and attention from his favourite people. Although he can occasionally be a little nervous around sudden movements, he is a lovely natured cat who quickly relaxes when he feels safe and secure.Due to injuries sustained before coming into our care that were consistent with a cat bite abscess, Rodney is looking for a home where he can be the only cat. However, he may be able to live with a calm, cat-savvy dog that will respect his space and allow him to settle at his own pace.Like many cats, Rodney has his own preferences and particularly enjoys using soil in his litter tray.If you're looking for a friendly, affectionate companion who enjoys the simple things in life, warm beds, gentle company, and plenty of naps, Rodney could be the perfect addition to your family.

About Rodney

What life with Rodney looks like

Rodney is a young adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at RSPCA Cornwall Branch in Saint Columb.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rodney, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rodney?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Cornwall Branch handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rodney on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rodney if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA Cornwall Branch will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rodney already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rodney isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Cornwall Branch early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rodney and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (the shelter's own language). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
