Rodriguez

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 11 years

03-23-2015 - Our boy is recovering very well. He is a dog of amazing kindness and desire to live. He seeks cuddles, is friendly with all dogs, in short, he is a real treasure. Here he is for you who don't forget him. Click on the photos to enlarge them! 03-13-2015 - Dear friends, I am here too, don't forget me, I had the operation and I also need help. I am a dog who has never had anything in life. Now I am recovering and then I will thank all the people who help me. I am very good. Our Rodriguez is reacting well after the operation and we thank anyone who can help him with the veterinary costs. Click on the photos to enlarge them! 03-09-2015 - This morning our Rodriguez was taken to the clinic for X-rays but due to the situation he was operated on. He did not have a fracture, he was operated on for a carpal luxation, unfortunately with damage to the ligaments and extensor tendons. In these cases, it is not possible to save the functionality of the joint and therefore it must be immobilized in a physiological position. A pan-carpal arthrodesis with a dedicated plate associated with a cancellous bone graft between the carpals was performed. The operation was a complete success. Poor puppy. We, despite our emergencies, have not stopped helping him, in debt upon debt. We thank anyone who can help us with the costs of the operation. Click on the photos to enlarge them! 03-09-2015 - RODRIGUEZ HIT IN THE INDUSTRIAL AREA, "BUT HE BELONGS TO NO ONE". A car arrives at the animal shelter, a woman gets out with a injured dog in her arms, his leg is bandaged (in the photo with the red bandage, he was taken by a veterinarian just after the accident) "he was hit in the Industrial Area, I have been feeding him for one and a half months, when he arrived I, through a friend who is a veterinarian, also treated him, the animal control officers told me to bring him to you, he doesn't have a microchip, but I care about this dog". "Lady, there's no problem, if the dog is yours we are happy, but please put a microchip in him and take him to your trusted veterinarian. The lady leaves. Soon after, we receive a call from the veterinarian who had given the first aid: "the lady of the injured dog has arrived, she says that you refused the dog". I leave you to imagine my reaction. We immediately go to pick up the poor dog at the veterinary clinic and take him to the animal shelter. The dog has a radius and ulna fracture, he will need surgery and you know well that these are expensive operations. Poor animals abandoned to their fate. It takes a lot of strength for us every day, we have so many situations to endure!!!!!!! The little one, whom we have named Rodriguez, will be operated on as soon as possible and as everyone knows, no one reimburses the operation because it is only covered by kind-hearted people. And this is known by everyone even when denying "the local authority". There are people who give their lives for their animals, renouncing everything, there are people who before the god of money "deny even their own mother". These situations we experience too often. We will keep you updated on the operation and we thank in advance anyone who can help us support this emergency. He is a very sweet dog, he is about two years old.

About Rodriguez

What life with Rodriguez looks like

Rodriguez is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at L.I.D.A. Olbia in Olbia.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rodriguez, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rodriguez?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. L.I.D.A. Olbia handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rodriguez on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rodriguez if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — L.I.D.A. Olbia will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rodriguez already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rodriguez isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with L.I.D.A. Olbia early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rodriguez and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
