Adopt Roger

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Hello, my name is Roger, I am a medium-sized dog, an older dog (born 02/2011). I led my life with my owner in a very specific way. Until recently, we had a place to live, and my owner, in his simple way, took care of me, and it must be said that he loved me. However, he has been struggling with alcoholism for a long time, and additionally, our place of residence is currently being liquidated. This primarily caused complications in our shared life. I am a well-known dog at the animal shelter, I have been there several times when my owner got himself into a state of intoxication or someone passing by noticed how I was left alone without supervision. We often walked together, but along the way, we sometimes went in different directions, hence the numerous visits to the animal shelter, of course... I am a specific type of dog, because I value my freedom, I loved my solitary walks, although not everyone liked them. It must be said that we didn't have GPS or other technologies. I had the best enriched environment, I could explore and fully decide what I wanted to do! And when I ended up at the animal shelter, my owner would come for me the next day. Due to the current situation, my owner received guidelines that will help our paths to meet again in one common direction. Currently, I can be seen howling at the moon or staring at all the exit gates. Some staff members manage to free me from this, for example, with a ball or food, but I quickly return to check if any gate is open for me. I currently have all vaccinations, deworming. I am spayed. Also, I am neutered. I am waiting patiently... (8361) called by the owner :)

Jeszcze do niedawna mieliśmy gdzie mieszkać, a mój właściciel na swój prosty sposób dbał o mnie i trzeba przyznać kochał mnie. Aktualnie można mnie spotkać wyjącego do księżyca albo zapatrzonego we wszystkie furtki do wyjścia. Aktualnie posiadam wszelkie szczepienia, odrobaczenia. Jestem zaczipowany. A także wykastrowany. Czekam cierpliwie... (8361) odebrany przez właściciela :)

About Roger

What life with Roger looks like

Roger is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Zabrze in Zabrze.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Roger, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Roger?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Zabrze handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Roger on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Roger if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Zabrze will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Roger already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Roger isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Zabrze early rather than rehoming privately; they know Roger and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
