Roland

European Shorthair · Male · Adult · 6 years

Roland is a neutered male cat, 6 years and 10 months old, arriving at our shelter on 15/07/2025 after being picked up by our ambulance. For very long months, Roland remained in care. Upon arrival, he suffered from a significant otitis in his right ear. A TECABO had to be performed, a heavy rescue surgery carried out during severe chronic otitis. Today, this operation allows him to live more comfortably, although regular and attentive follow-up will remain important over the years. In the cattery, the beginnings with other cats were complicated. Over time, Roland has calmed down and his behavior has softened. He could live with another cat, provided that it is calm, non-dominant, and does not constantly bother him. With humans, Roland remains a rather reserved and shy cat. He will need a patient family ready to respect his pace and give him the time to trust. Placement with turbulent young children will be avoided. His relationship with dogs is unknown. Being deaf on the right side, if an outdoor access is considered, it must be fully secured. After all these months spent at the shelter and in care, Roland finally deserves to discover the peace of a real home.

FR·Show original

About Roland

What life with Roland looks like

Roland is a adult european shorthair cat waiting at SRPA Liege in Srpa Liege.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Roland, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Roland?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SRPA Liege handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Roland on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Roland if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SRPA Liege will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Roland already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Roland isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SRPA Liege early rather than rehoming privately; they know Roland and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
