Romeo

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Romeo has found his place of grace! His story: Romeo is approximately 8 years old, around 40-45 cm tall, and currently lives in the public shelter in Baia Mare, Romania. He is a very sweet and friendly dog, but he is a bit shy and needs time to trust people. With a lot of empathy and patience, and perhaps a few treats that he loves very much, you can surely make that happen. Although he has passed puberty, Romeo still has a lot to learn, as he only knows life on the street and in the kennel. Attending a positively working dog training class would be great to play with other fellow animals and to learn the basics of dog 1×1 with you. This also strengthens the bond between dog and human. For Romeo, we are looking for an experienced, loving, and most importantly patient person where he can arrive in peace in his new home. Once Romeo arrives and finds trust in his people, he will surely become a great travel companion. He gets along well with his fellow animals. He does not know cats, and the interaction cannot be tested. He would also be very happy with a foster home. He travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas to his new home, and can only go if the match is positive. Would you like to walk through life with Romeo and show how great humans can be? Many thanks! Natalie P.! Thanks to you, Romeo has a name and a chance to find his family. Heartfelt thanks to Christiane W. for supporting Romeo with a monthly paternity! As of: 02.01.

Stand: 02.01.2025

About Romeo

What life with Romeo looks like

Romeo is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Romeo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Romeo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Romeo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Romeo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Romeo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Romeo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Romeo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
