Romeo

Mixed Breed · Male

Romeo is a loving and cheerful dog, born in January 2020, who spent his early years on the streets of Cernavodă. Alongside his mentor, Cabral, and other community dogs, Romeo learned to explore the world around him. When the hangers returned to the city, the risk of Romeo being caught was very high, so we brought him safely to the clinic. With a strong and playful personality, Romeo is the type of dog who will show you his love, but on his own terms. He likes to be petted, especially around the ears, and often seeks human company, although he maintains a dose of independence. He is a puppy who prefers freedom and does not like to be constrained or forced to do something. Romeo loves to explore nature and take long walks, wearing the harness without problems and behaving impeccably on a leash. Although he is quite independent, he enjoys the presence of other dogs and would prefer not to be alone in the house. Romeo would suit an active person/family, who can offer him space to follow his own rhythm and who can involve him in fun activities without forcing him. He could happily live in both a rural environment and a small urban area. Although Romeo has not been tested with children, he could live with responsible teenagers who understand and respect a dog's space. Note: Unfortunately, Romeo cannot coexist with cats, as he has a hunting instinct towards them.

RO·Show original

About Romeo

What life with Romeo looks like

Romeo is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Urme de Bucurie in Cernavodă.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇷🇴Adopting from Romania

Romanian rescues handle the highest volume of cross-border adoptions in the EU. Animals are quarantined and fully vetted before transport. Reputable rescues maintain detailed health records and post-adoption follow-up.

Frequently asked

Adopting Romeo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Romeo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Urme de Bucurie handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Romeo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Romeo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Urme de Bucurie will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Romeo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Romeo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Urme de Bucurie early rather than rehoming privately; they know Romeo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (RO). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
