Romero

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Age: Born in 2023. Gender: male. neutered: yes Character: very friendly Size: approx. 48 cm In shelter since: April 2024 Dear kind people out there, I greet you! Romero is what I am called here, and I am also allowed to introduce myself. I am a young male dog, and already half of my life has been spent here in this shelter. Can you imagine that? It feels like an eternity to me. The first months I lived on the streets of Romania. That was pretty tough and exhausting, I can tell you. Every day I had to search my surroundings for food, water, and a suitable place to sleep. Not always was I successful, often my stomach would growl. Also, I had some close calls with dangerous situations on the streets, but I was lucky that nothing happened to me. Since I've been living in the shelter, my life has been completely different. Here I have found security. I get plenty of food and water every day. I spend my time with my friendly doggy friends. And when we get tired from playing, we cuddle together and warm each other up. So it's not too bad, especially in the cold winter. Nevertheless, I don't want to stay here forever. That would be really bad for me. I am still so young, with my whole life ahead of me. And that shouldn't be so monotonous and boring as it is now. At the beginning of my shelter time, I was still really optimistic that it would only be a transit station. Now, I have a bit of fear that everything will stay as bleak as it is. Therefore, I am looking for a loving person who might be willing to take me in. I am ready for all kinds of adventures. I am open, cheerful, curious, and full of energy. Long walks in nature and cuddling with my people, that would be exactly my thing. I also dare to learn new things, when you show and teach me what is important for our shared life together. If you are patient with me, of course. It would be completely new experiences for me, but I think I can handle it. If you are looking for a young and positively-minded dog, a loving lad, then please contact Soul for Souls! So I could soon come to you and we could finally meet. I am so ready to leave the shelter life behind and begin my adventure with you. Write to me, I am eagerly waiting, your dear Romero! If you are interested in Romero, please fill out our Prospective Owner Form () or write us an email or a message on Facebook. Romero is ready to travel and can travel to Germany with the next transport. Our dogs travel legally with Traces. Traces refers to the database system that monitors the entire animal transport within the EU. The dogs travel neutered (if old enough), vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed, and have an EU passport. Additionally, for dogs over 12 months of age, a rapid test for the following Mediterranean diseases is conducted before travel arrangements: Lyme disease, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichiosis, Dirofilariasis, and leishmaniasis. The sponsorship for Romero has been taken over by Tim S., and thus ensures a full food bowl. Many thanks on behalf of the dogs!

SteckbriefAlter: 2023 geboren.

About Romero

What life with Romero looks like

Romero is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Seelen für Seelchen e.V. in Alfter.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Romero, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Romero?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelen für Seelchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Romero on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Romero if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelen für Seelchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Romero already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Romero isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelen für Seelchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Romero and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
