Romy

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 9 years

Romy is a female cat, a mix of a domestic shorthair and a Siamese, who is looking for her forever home. She was discovered with her kittens in late August and was fortunately brought to safety. At first, everything was very exciting and frightening for her. At her foster home, she was initially completely disoriented and very suspicious of people. She didn't know if she could trust them. But now she has learned that people can also be wonderful. She especially trusts her foster mom, who she enjoys being petted by and who she likes to cuddle with. She loves to be stroked extensively, likes to snuggle up to her and also lies down next to her very relaxed. It becomes more and more noticeable every day how much she is thawing and gaining trust. When she feels comfortable, she is curious and discovers more and more her playful side. She even dashes through the room and likes to watch what's going on outside through the window. Soon her little mice won't need her anymore - and then it's time for me to find my own home. I wish for a quiet, loving home where I can arrive at my own pace. Older, quiet children are also welcome. It is especially important to me that my people are at home a lot in the beginning and I don't have to be alone for many hours right away. I need time, patience and people who understand that trust doesn't come overnight. For my new home, I wish for outdoor access in a quiet, low-traffic area. As soon as I have settled in and gained trust, I would like to explore my surroundings curiously there. Of course, I will be spayed and vaccinated before my departure. If you would like to show me with peace, patience and a lot of heart how beautiful a home can be, I would be very happy to get to know you. If you are interested, please write a little about yourself, your living situation and your daily routine so that we can get a first impression of what my future home could look like.

About Romy

What life with Romy looks like

Romy is an adult mixed breed cat waiting at Katzenhilfe Stuttgart e.V..

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Romy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Romy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Katzenhilfe Stuttgart e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Romy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Romy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Katzenhilfe Stuttgart e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Romy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Romy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Katzenhilfe Stuttgart e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Romy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
