Romy

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 8 years

Virginia Georgieva, female, approximately 2018, Bulgarian, spayed, FIV-negative, FeLV-negative, no known disabilities, compatible with children: unknown, cats: yes, dogs: unknown, requirements: NO single housing, only indoor housing, NO outdoor access, balcony or terrace desirable (if available, securing required), Romy met Virginia and Georgie by chance as they were getting a pizza. The dear feline immediately approached them, purred with them and obviously sought human proximity. It quickly became clear that she longed for attention and affection. Whether she had a home before and was later abandoned is unknown, but her affectionate nature suggests this possibility. Her clipped left ear tip indicated that Romy had already been spayed - probably as part of a sterilization campaign. Nevertheless, she still had to live on the streets. For Virginia it was clear that such a sweet cat should not remain on the street. Therefore, she took Romy to the animal shelter so that she finally gets the chance for a better life. At Virginia's place, poor Romy showed great problems with her teeth. Many were already missing and the remaining ones were almost all so broken that they had to be pulled out. Romy is an incredibly sweet and people-oriented cat who would love to spend every free minute with her humans. She can't get enough of petting and makes it clear with her cuddly nature how much she enjoys closeness. She simply rejoices in every loving attention. Although Romy is currently still in quarantine, a male cat that is also housed there seems to be no problem for her at all. Everything suggests that Romy can get along well with other cats. Romy is looking for people who don't mind being asked to pet regularly. She has a lot of love to catch up on and makes no secret of how much she enjoys the closeness to her humans. So if you dream of an affectionate cuddly cat, this charming lady is just right.

About Romy

What life with Romy looks like

Romy is a large adult mixed breed cat waiting at Glücksnasen e.V. Tierschutzverein in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Romy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Romy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Glücksnasen e.V. Tierschutzverein handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Romy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Romy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Glücksnasen e.V. Tierschutzverein will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Romy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Romy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Glücksnasen e.V. Tierschutzverein early rather than rehoming privately; they know Romy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
