adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this German Shepherd mix Ron now! Not infrequently, we encounter in our volunteer animal welfare work souls that are heavily marked by their past. Our beautiful German Shepherd mix Ron is one of these sad fates. Completely emaciated, he was found and rescued. Initially, it's about getting him back to a healthy weight. But since the Romanian foster home is currently completely overloaded, Ron is currently leading a life on a chain—a state that we must end as quickly as possible. Despite his underweight condition, he loves lots of movement. The five-year-old charismatic Ron, with a shoulder height of about 65 cm, belongs to the larger dogs and requires ample physical exertion. In line with his German Shepherd heritage, he also needs mental stimulation, loves brain games, and wishes for a close bond with his human or family. German Shepherds are known for their exceptional loyalty, nerves, and self-assurance. Clear rules and consistent leadership are therefore particularly important so that Ron can gain a sense of security. A house with a yard would be ideal for this handsome male dog, as he would like to guard his territory and be able to move freely. Currently, it's still difficult for Ron to trust. He shows fear of strangers. We don't know which formative experiences from his past have led to these insecurities, but we are sure that an experienced and loving person can plant trust in his brave heart. Has our handsome prince already captured your heart in the storm? His luggage is already packed. Ron can be adopted after a positive assessment. He would also be thrilled with a foster home. This dog will be rehomed together with the organization Arme Hundeseelen Rumänien. The double posting on both organization sides and possibly on advertising portals serves to increase his visibility and find the right home for him more quickly. With the organization, there is a close exchange. Every inquiry for the dog is discussed and forwarded directly. A big thank you goes to Enno and Rebekka. You have given Ron a very nice name and thus a lot of hope and an identity. As of: 01.04. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 06.07.2026

About Ron

What life with Ron looks like

Ron is a extra-large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ron, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ron?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ron on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ron if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ron already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ron isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ron and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
