Ronnie

English Bulldog · Male · Senior · 9 years

Ronnie is looking for a home with loving and active adopters who can take him on sniffy adventures, who will take the time to help him settle in and give him all the love and attention he deserves. He is a friendly bean who could live with any aged children who will play with him nicely and will give him space to rest when needed. Ronnie could live with another calm dog who will happily co-exist and engage in occasional play, this will be pending successful meets at the centre; although living with another dog is not a necessity, he would be happy with polite and friendly walking buddies. Ronnie is a clever guy and already has some training under his belt, he does a lovely “sit”, “paw” and “stay” to name a few, he is eager to engage in training in short, sweet sessions as long as a tasty treat is on offer, although he is on a special diet. Ronnie can settle nicely in the home, so could be left for up to 4 hours, any leaving time would need to be built up slowly once he has had time to settle into his new home. Ronnie is on a special diet and will need a vet call before meeting any potential adopters, he will need to meet his adopters a few times prior to going home so please bear all of this in mind when applying. Little bundle of joy Ronnie is a French Bulldog whose 9 years old, although you wouldn’t believe it if you saw him. He loves a long walk and games of fetch with his favourite humans are the best, he will chase and bound around with his ball, although he is a bit of a teddy bear defluffer. He loves to play and snooze in equal measure, after a good walk you can often find him snuggled down in bed catching some Z’s. He is an affectionate guy, who will paw at your leg for a fuss, he especially likes a neck and back scratch. This pawsome pooch is ready to find his new home.

About Ronnie

What life with Ronnie looks like

Ronnie is a senior english bulldog dog waiting at Dogs Trust Canterbury in Chestfield.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ronnie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ronnie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Canterbury handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ronnie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ronnie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Canterbury will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ronnie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ronnie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Canterbury early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ronnie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
