Roo is a handsome 9-year-old crossbreed, weighing around 24kg, who came to Islay Dog Rescue from a kill shelter in Macedonia. Despite the hardships he has endured, Roo has remained the perfect gentleman, with a trusting, gentle, and loving nature. Roo enjoys his walks and is a pleasure to take out, walking beautifully on the lead and showing no reactivity towards other dogs, cars, or livestock. His calm and easy-going temperament makes him wonderful company wherever he goes. He loves his ham and chicken treats, always taking them politely, and his eagerness to please will make training a rewarding experience. Roo is a clever boy who responds well to positive reinforcement. Roo gets on well with other dogs and could happily live with a resident canine companion following careful introductions. Although he hasn't met children since arriving at Islay, we believe his gentle nature means he could live with respectful, dog-savvy children aged 12 and over. Roo has not yet been cat tested, but this can be arranged if required. As with many of our rescue dogs, we don't know whether Roo has ever lived in a home or is house-trained. His new family will need to be patient and committed to helping him learn his house manners using kind, positive training methods. Given his calm nature and love of treats, we're confident he'll enjoy learning alongside his new family.
