Rory is a small Kokoni boy, around 11–12 years old , and he doesn’t really understand how he ended up here. One day, everything he knew was gone, and the next he was in a shelter, new sounds, new smells, new faces passing by like he isn’t quite real. Nothing feels familiar to him anymore. Not the ground beneath his paws, not the voices around him, not even the rhythm of the days. But Rory hasn’t stopped being gentle. He doesn’t fight the noise. He doesn’t push for attention. He just sits quietly, as if he’s trying to take up as little space as possible in a world that already feels too big and too loud for him. When you look at him, you might miss him at first, not because he isn’t special, but because he’s so soft you almost have to slow down to see him. And even then… he smiles. It’s a small, fragile little expression, the kind that makes you wonder how long he’s been holding it together. Like he’s learned that being good, being calm, being easy means maybe, just maybe, someone will stay🥺 Rory doesn’t ask for toys or excitement or anything complicated. He just watches the door. Watches people come and go. And every time, he hopes, quietly, carefully, that this time, someone will look at him and not walk past. What he really needs isn’t much. A place where he doesn’t have to be brave all the time. A hand that doesn’t leave. A voice that says, “you’re safe now,” and means it!! Rory is still here. Still gentle. Still smiling.
