Rosa

Female · Senior · 11 years

Originally, Rosa came to us because her owner had left her at a camping site. He was a regular guest there, but eventually moved away and left the cat to fend for herself. Rosa didn't understand the world anymore. We were very happy when she finally got to move into a new home. But now, after some time, she was returned to us again because she had suddenly become unsanitary. The reason for this was a bladder infection, which we are currently treating. The owner no longer wanted Rosa after that, as she had acquired a new cat. Rosa saddens us all, as she is very fearful due to bad experiences with people and currently doesn't allow any touching. She also doesn't want anything to do with her fellow animals. We are looking for a home in the countryside for Rosa, where she can later have free roam. She will definitely need time to adjust. The new people should not rush her and give her all the time in the world. Rosa is a wonderful cat and eagerly awaits people who can prove to her that they are trustworthy. If you are interested in adopting Rosa, please write us a detailed email. This cat needs outdoor access.

DE·Show original

About Rosa

What life with Rosa looks like

Rosa is a senior cat waiting at Tierheim Köln in Cologne.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rosa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rosa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Köln handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rosa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rosa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Köln will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rosa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rosa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Köln early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rosa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
