Rosa

Husky · Female · Senior · 11 years

Meet Rosa! She is a beautiful and gentle soul who is searching for a calm, loving home where she can enjoy her golden years. When you first meet Rosa, she can be timid and nervous around new people and unfamiliar surroundings. She needs time to feel safe, so her new adopter will need to be patient and allow her to build trust at her own pace. Once she knows you, Rosa’s sweet, friendly nature begins to shine through, and she forms lovely bonds with those who give her the time she needs. Rosa would thrive in a quiet retirement home with a calm routine and understanding owners who appreciate that the best relationships are worth waiting for. She will need several meet and greets before the adoption can take place to ensure she feels comfortable with her new adopter. She has socialised well with other dogs whilst in our care so we feel she could possibly live with another calm, older dog following a successful meet and greet. If you have a peaceful home, a kind heart, and the patience to let Rosa blossom in her own time, you will be rewarded with the companionship of a truly lovely girl who deserves to spend her retirement surrounded by love. As she came into the home as a stray we have no previous history on her and as she can be a little timid around new people we would like any children in the home to be 16+ years. We are unsure how she would react around cats.

About Rosa

What life with Rosa looks like

Rosa is a large senior husky dog waiting at Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) in Manchester.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rosa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rosa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rosa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rosa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rosa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rosa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rosa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
