Rosi

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 7 months

Rosi, a female German Shepherd mix, has been at the shelter since March 2026. She is estimated to be born in February 2026 and will likely reach a shoulder height of 60-79 cm. Meet Rosi in the video! Rescued from a killing station with her ten siblings, including Babylon, Zoe & Arashi, Rosi was taken in by the shelter. You can find more information about how the dogs end up at the shelter and answers to general questions in our animal welfare FAQ. Our puppy gang has shown itself to be playful and curious so far. Rosi is very confident and interested in her surroundings. She lets our caregivers touch and lift her. Rosi needs some time to relax and unwind when visiting her kennel. She is open and curious in the outdoor area. Her character will continue to develop in the coming weeks and months. If you would like more information about this furball, feel free to contact our placement team. Rosi is currently being treated for Giardia and is therefore alone in her kennel. Our placement team knows the exact health status best. If you have any questions, please send us a message. Puppies should not have to grow up in a shelter. That's why we are urgently looking for a loving home or an experienced foster home for this little furball - a place where she can discover the world, build trust and simply be a puppy. Anyone who adopts a puppy should be aware of how demanding everyday life with a young dog can be: As soon as the house is clean, the "wild puberty" is often already there - full of energy, uncertainty and new challenges. The first years of life are an exciting journey that humans and dogs go through together - with ups and downs and plenty of learning moments. We wish this furball people with patience, empathy and perseverance - and with the understanding that animal shelter dogs often already have a certain history. How they react to their new life in Germany can never be fully predicted. But one thing is certain: Adopting instead of buying not only gives a second chance to an animal, but also actively decides against animal suffering - and for a life with a very special companion by your side. In love yet? Send us a self-disclosure! Adoption If you are thinking about an adoption, first read through the placement process. All dogs are vaccinated, chipped, dewormed, flea-treated and neutered before departure (except for puppies up to 6 months and very old dogs). Dogs older than 1 year are also tested for Mediterranean diseases. If you have any questions, please send our placement team a message.

About Rosi

What life with Rosi looks like

Rosi is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Hunderettung Europa e.V. in Duisburg.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rosi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rosi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hunderettung Europa e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rosi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rosi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hunderettung Europa e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rosi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rosi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hunderettung Europa e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rosi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
