Rosie

Border Collie Β· Female Β· Young Β· 3 years

Rosie is a lovely girl who has had quite a few changes in her life and is now looking for a patient, understanding home where she can finally settle.Originally born on a farm, Rosie has lived in several homes, most recently spending a month in foster care before coming to us. In her previous home, she struggled to settle into a busy family environment, so we feel she would be best suited to a quieter, adult-only home where she can enjoy a more predictable routine.During her time in foster care, Rosie lived alongside four other dogs and a cat. She was fine with the cat and generally chose to ignore the other dogs. She was also housetrained, crate trained, travelled well in the car and was happy being left alone for a few hours. She responded well to basic commands and was comfortable walking along quiet streets, although she hasn't had much exposure to busier environments.Rosie can be a little shy when meeting new people and will need time to build her confidence. In one of her previous homes, Rosie was reported to react to certain household items and occasionally nip at people's ankles. Although her foster carer didn't experience this behaviour, we did see Rosie attempt to nip at the back of a staff member's legs when they stood up and walked away from her. We have already seen some improvement in this behaviour as she begins to settle. We feel Rosie will benefit from an experienced, calm owner who understands that some of her reactions may be linked to uncertainty and who can help her learn more appropriate ways of coping. She will need gentle, consistent guidance and a home where she isn't overwhelmed by too much activity.Despite her initial shyness, Rosie has been accepting of gentle handling and is already becoming more comfortable with our staff. We hope that, given the right environment, she will continue to grow in confidence.REHOMING FEE Β£360

About Rosie

What life with Rosie looks like

Rosie is a young adult border collie dog waiting at Border Collie Trust GB in United Kingdom.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rosie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rosie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Border Collie Trust GB handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rosie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rosie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Border Collie Trust GB will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Rosie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rosie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Border Collie Trust GB early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rosie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
