Rosie K

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

Rosie K. Born approximately 1.5 years old Female. Neutered Breed Mix Size approximately 50 cm (currently only 11 kg; much too thin) Foster home Rosie is still abroad with our animal welfare friends. She can travel out as soon as we have found a foster home (preferably with adoption intentions) in the Mainz/Wiesbaden area. The age data provided here are often estimated values, as we do not always know the exact age. Other details such as size are a matter of opinion. A kind woman found Rosie on the street... totally emaciated... and tried to find the owner. Unfortunately, she had no chip and no one has reported so far. That's why they asked for our help. Currently, the dog, now called Rosie, lives with a lady who actually takes care of cats... Currently, she has some kittens and is worried about leaving Rosie alone when she is at work. So she currently spends most of the day on the terrace on a leash... That is of course not a nice state for everyone in the long run... That's why we are urgently looking for a foster home for the mouse, because then there is the possibility to find another temporary foster home for Rosie. Rosie is already neutered, tested negative for Mediterranean diseases, dewormed and treated against fleas and ticks, vaccinated and chipped, can travel out in mid-September. She is friendly with people, cats unsettle her a bit, knows it's already been in the house and on a leash. We are looking for people who are willing to take on the adventure of an overseas dog and give him a second chance at a responsible home. About Rosie K

What life with Rosie K looks like

Rosie K is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. in Zornheim.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rosie K, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rosie K?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rosie K on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rosie K if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rosie K already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rosie K isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rosie K and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
