Rosie

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

A female dog, approximately 2 years old (as of October 2026), approximately 40 cm tall, spayed upon departure. Origin: Rosie was rescued from a shelter along with her puppies. Fortunately, this part of her life is now behind her. She currently lives in a foster home in Bulgaria, where she is safe with her puppies. Rosie finds people interesting, but so far she is not ready to let them touch her. She needs time to build trust and wants to decide when she takes the next step. However, she is already showing small progress on her foster home: After a few days, she began to approach people, gently touch their hand and then quickly run away again. A small moment that shows Rosie is curious and is slowly getting closer - even if she lacks the courage to really allow closeness. We wish for people who appreciate such small steps and can rejoice without expecting anything from her. We have to assume that Rosie will need a lot of time in Germany to get used to her new environment. New sounds, unfamiliar people, an unknown home and the many impressions can overwhelm her at first. That's why we wish for her a home with a fenced garden, so she can get used to it in peace without being confronted with walks directly. Walking on a leash and house training are probably still foreign words to Rosie. She will also need patient people who teach her everything in small steps and do not overload her. It would be particularly important for her to have a confident, calm person by her side, who gives her orientation, radiates calm and helps her find her way in the new world. An already existing, confident first dog could also be a help, but is not a must. We are looking for a loving home or a suitable foster home for Rosie with a lot of time, patience and understanding. *We expressly point out that behavior can change in a new environment after some time. This should be taken into account with every adoption! Are you interested in Rosie? Then fill out our self-disclosure form right away. Self-disclosure Adoption Self-disclosure Foster

Selbstauskunft Adoption Selbstauskunft Pflegestelle

About Rosie

What life with Rosie looks like

Rosie is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Kleine & große Pfoten e.V. in Germany (national, Bulgaria rescue focus).

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rosie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rosie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Kleine & große Pfoten e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rosie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rosie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Kleine & große Pfoten e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Rosie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rosie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Kleine & große Pfoten e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rosie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
