Rosie

Female · Adult · 4 years

Rosie is a timid girl looking for her quiet home where she can find her confidence. She is based at our Old Windsor Centre. Rosie is a very worried dog and is finding the world a scary place. She takes her time to get used to people and places, it’s so important for new owners to understand that Rosie is going to take time to settle, feel comfortable and get used to her new routine. Once Rosie has gotten to know you, she shows her affectionate side enjoying fuss and playing fetch with tennis balls. But she is very sensitive to loud noises and fast movements, due to this Rosie will need a home with her own private garden in a low populated rural environment. Her Spaniel traits are still strong she is energetic and strong willed, enjoying sniffing and exploring where she feels confident. She will require a good amount of exercise and can be strong on lead. Owners with knowledge of Spaniels and their needs would really benefit Rosie and help her find her feet in a new home. Rosie has been showing small parts of her personality with our staff here, seeking affection and even wanting to get on their lap when sat down with her. She will be rewarding fun companion in a new home when given the time to adjust and learn all about home comforts. She could possibly live with another dog that will be a calm role model for Rosie, she is not looking for a play mate. A relaxed friend that can show her the world isn’t so worrying. If you feel you would have the right household for the lovely, you can e-mail our rehoming team on to register your interest.

About Rosie

What life with Rosie looks like

Rosie is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rosie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rosie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rosie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rosie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rosie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rosie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rosie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
