Rotti Balu

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Balu – a gentle Rottweiler-Mix seeks his new happiness Sometimes life forces us to make sad decisions: So, the two-year-old Balu, an absolutely loving and well-socialized Rottweiler-Mix, had to reluctantly leave his Frauchen due to an incurable illness. Unfortunately, she only contacted us very late, and a temporary solution had to be found for the gentle giant within a day. The entire team of Tierhilfe Franken e.V. spent hours on the phone and put all their efforts into organizing a foster home for Balu. Despite their best efforts, no suitable foster home could be found – not because of Balu’s nature, but simply because of his size, which was too large for the intended living conditions. An engaged foster parent finally stepped in and took the open-minded young pup for the night before bringing him to the animal shelter Bamberg the next day. The animal shelter has thankfully offered us support in this emergency, but for Balu, the shelter life is a huge challenge. As a true family dog, he misses the closeness to his people and suffers from not having trusted people and cuddles anymore. Our dog trainer visited Balu at the shelter and, as we already know, was completely enchanted. The big “Rottiknutschbär” greeted her joyfully, full of energy, and with his gentle, loving nature. Now, we urgently seek a loving home for Balu, where he can finally find peace after his heavy loss. He is a playful, well-socialized, and energy-packed young pup who loves people above all else. Who will give this big treasure their heart and a Forever Home, where he can finally arrive? Together with the animal shelter Bamberg, we give everything to find Balu’s happiness – maybe with you?

About Rotti Balu

What life with Rotti Balu looks like

Rotti Balu is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierhilfe Franken e.V. in Lauf.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rotti Balu, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rotti Balu?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierhilfe Franken e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rotti Balu on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rotti Balu if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhilfe Franken e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rotti Balu already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rotti Balu isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierhilfe Franken e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rotti Balu and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
