Rotti

Rottweiler · Male · Senior · 9 years

Rotti has not had much luck in life so far. He came to us as a surrendered, stressed and scared dog. Everything points to the fact that he hasn't experienced much good from humans before. At first, he didn't want to go out for walks at all. Fortunately, he has already made great progress. He willingly goes out for walks and compared to the first few months in the animal shelter - he is doing very well on a leash. He pays attention to his handler, who is a big support for him. As a shy dog, Rotti has surprisingly good relations with people. He does not show aggression towards people resulting from fear. He is distant, but increasingly allows touch. Sometimes he even approaches by himself and gladly accepts a portion of gentle pats. Rotti should go to a home in a quiet area. We are looking for a patient, calm, understanding and consistent person for him. He needs someone who just gives him a chance and at the same time does not have exaggerated expectations. Our foster, affectionately called Rudolf the Fox, deserves a lot of love, which will compensate for his past wrongs and heal his past nightmares. Due to the fact that Rotti needs peace, he cannot live in a house with small children.

Czasem nawet sam podchodzi i chętnie przyjmuje porcję delikatnych głasków. Rotti powinien trafić do domu w spokojnej okolicy.

About Rotti

What life with Rotti looks like

Rotti is a medium-sized senior rottweiler dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Note from the shelter: Requires patient, calm owner due to past trauma and fearful nature

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rotti, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rotti?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rotti on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rotti if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rotti already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rotti isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rotti and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
