Roxanne has never known the warmth of a real home. Until recently, she lived in conditions that failed to meet even the most basic standards of care. That’s why we took her in – to show her that life can be beautiful, filled with kindness, respect, and love. She is a beautiful, medium-sized dog, sweet and approachable, but still adjusting to her new surroundings in the shelter. Her timid and sometimes hesitant nature tells us that she grew up in a place where humans were seen as “masters” rather than loving caretakers. With patience, love, and no pressure, our volunteers are showing her every day that she is safe and has nothing to fear anymore. And already, we are beginning to see glimpses of the wonderful dog she truly is – a dog who deserves to be loved like never before.
