Roy (Nickname – Rhino)

English Bulldog · Male · Adult · 6 years

A Big Softie Looking for Love ❤️ I’m a very affectionate and cuddly boy who absolutely loves human company! I’m happiest when I’m close to my people, and I seem to crave lots of attention and reassurance. I can get a little overexcited at times and enjoy jumping up to say hello, and I’m quite a big, solid lad, so I may be a bit of a handful when I get carried away! The team believe I may be an Old English Bulldog crossed with a Dogue de Bordeaux. I’m a little bigger than an Old English Bulldog, but not quite as large as a Dogue de Bordeaux, making me a lovely, substantial lad! I’ve recently experienced the sudden loss of my beloved owner, and understandably, I may be feeling confused and unsettled by everything that has happened. As the circumstances were unexpected, the team don’t yet know exactly what I’ve been through or how this change has affected me. At the moment, I’m seeking lots of affection and human contact, which may be my way of coping with such a significant change in my life. While I’m a very loving boy, my need for attention and reassurance can be quite intense, so it’s important that my future adopter understands my circumstances and is prepared to give me the time, patience and support I need to settle into my new life. It’s still early days, and there’s lots more for the team to learn about me! We don’t yet know what I’m like with toys, as I’m still settling in and showing everyone my personality at my own pace. I haven’t taken any treats from the team just yet either, although this is likely to be because I’m feeling stressed and overwhelmed by all the recent changes. Hopefully, as I begin to feel more comfortable and secure, the team will get to discover even more about the things I enjoy! I’m still in the early stages of assessment, and the team are getting to know me better every day. As they learn more about my personality, behaviour and needs, they’ll update my profile accordingly. Could you be the person who helps me feel safe and loved again? ❤️

About Roy (Nickname – Rhino)

What life with Roy (Nickname – Rhino) looks like

Roy (Nickname – Rhino) is a large adult english bulldog dog waiting at All Creatures Great & Small Animal Sanctuary in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Roy (Nickname – Rhino), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Roy (Nickname – Rhino)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. All Creatures Great & Small Animal Sanctuary handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Roy (Nickname – Rhino) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Roy (Nickname – Rhino) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — All Creatures Great & Small Animal Sanctuary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Roy (Nickname – Rhino) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Roy (Nickname – Rhino) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with All Creatures Great & Small Animal Sanctuary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Roy (Nickname – Rhino) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
