Roy

Male · Adult · 6 years

Meet Roy - a dog who has so much charm that a person immediately starts smiling. He's the type who gets excited like a child before a trip when he sees a leash and a harness. A walk? Of course! Roy is always ready! What is Roy like? - Friendly and positively oriented towards other dogs - every passing puppy gets a wagging tail, he doesn't get into conflicts. Even if someone barks at him, Roy simply increases the distance and moves on. - Curious explorer - everything interests him, he sniffs a lot, a walk is a real adventure for him. - Smart guy - he hasn't fully mastered walking on a leash yet, but he doesn't pull, responds nicely to direction changes and quickly picks up on human cues. - Cuddly and loved - especially in the kennel, he can be a real cuddle bug. - King of "staying" - his showpiece act is standing on his hind legs and doing a stand, when he wants to attract attention. And he does it so charmingly that the heart melts instantly, and the face smiles automatically. Stand 10/10! What home would be best for Roy? Roy dreams of a home that will provide him with regular, longer walks - you can tell he has energy and needs movement and sniffing, as well as a patient, understanding caregiver who will calmly show him the world and often teach him basics (walking on a leash is not quite there yet, but the potential is huge!), a home with an elevator or with a small number of stairs to climb. In the adoption process, we recommend a pre-adoption visit to check how Roy will find his way around the house and the walking area. We do not recommend him for a home with small children, for a noisy home where a lot is happening and which often receives guests. If Roy were to end up in a home where there is already another animal, an introduction to the resident will be required.

- Ciekawski odkrywca – wszystko go interesuje, dużo węszy, spacer to dla niego prawdziwa przygoda.

About Roy

What life with Roy looks like

Roy is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Needs home with elevator or minimal stairs

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Roy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Roy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Roy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Roy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Roy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Roy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Roy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
