Ruby

Unknown

Ruby is a 2-year-old guinea pig who came to our shelter with other guinea pigs. Unfortunately, she was given up due to unplanned breeding. Now Ruby hopes to move to a loving and responsible home. We are looking for people who know what guinea pigs need for a happy life. This includes, above all, the company of their own kind. Ruby wants to share her daily life with other guinea pigs and not be kept alone. A beautiful, spacious enclosure, varied activities, good food, and people who take time for their animals would certainly please Ruby. We wish Ruby a home where she can just be a guinea pig and finally arrive permanently. If you would like to give this beautiful lady this chance, you can get to know her at our shelter. 🐹🌿

DE·Show original

About Ruby

What life with Ruby looks like

Ruby is a large adult animal waiting at Landestierschutzverein Steiermark in Graz.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Ruby far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ruby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ruby?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Landestierschutzverein Steiermark handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ruby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ruby if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Landestierschutzverein Steiermark will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ruby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ruby isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Landestierschutzverein Steiermark early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ruby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
