Ruby

Mixed Breed Cat · Female · Senior · 11 years

Hello everyone, I am the very gorgeous older lady Ruby! I came to YCR as a stray a little time ago, I have had some troubles whilst being here but now I am all good and ready to find my furever home! When we first meet I maybe quite shy and a little unsure. It will take me some time to come round and feel safe but once I do, you won’t be disappointed, my wonderful personality will shine through! I just need someone who is patient and is willing to give me all the time in the world for me to come out of my shell. Once I trust you, you’ll discover just how special I really am. I’ve been lucky enough to spend some time in a foster home, where I’ve been learning that people can be kind, loving and trustworthy. I’m still finding my confidence, but every little step forward is something to be proud of. I have so much love and companionship that I can’t wait to share! Especially on the days where we can snuggle on the sofa. I have some tummy problems so I will also need to be on specialist digestive food diet as well as my medication but the team will explain more about this. I would like a home where I am the only Queen in the castle please! If you think I’m the lady for you, then please apply now. I can’t wait to meet you xxx

About Ruby

What life with Ruby looks like

Ruby is a senior mixed breed cat cat waiting at Yorkshire Cat Rescue in United Kingdom.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ruby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ruby?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Yorkshire Cat Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ruby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ruby if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Yorkshire Cat Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ruby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ruby isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Yorkshire Cat Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ruby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
