Ruddy & Sahara

English Bulldog · Female · Young · 3 years

Ruddy & Sahara could live with children aged 10+. They would like to be the only animals in the home. Ruddy & Sahara are a wonderful pair of siblings, they are littermates who have never spent a day apart! Sadly, other than that – we have very limited background information about their lives prior to their arrival here at the shelter. Ruddy (right) is the more confident of the pair, Sahara (left) can be a little more worried and gains a lot of confidence from being with Ruddy – she definitely feels more insecure when he isn’t by her side. They are a daft and energetic duo. They both love playing with a variety of toys – Ruddy would play fetch all day long! They would be best suited to an active family who can keep up with them! They would love a family who are able to take them on lots of lovely adventures and provide them with plenty of mental and physical enrichment. Ruddy & Sahara can both pull on the lead and so they will need a family who are physically capable of managing them whilst they work on their on-lead walking. Any potential rehomers will also need to consider the practical space required both at home and in the car for two 25kg dogs. This wonderful pair are so much fun to be around and so deserve to find a forever home together who can spoil them rotten. Ruddy has required some veterinary treatment whilst in our care, including for an ear infection and some vomiting. Any potential rehomers should be aware that these will likely be classed as pre-existing conditions and won’t be covered by pet insurance. The rehoming team will discuss Ruddy’s veterinary history in further detail with any successful applicants.

About Ruddy & Sahara

What life with Ruddy & Sahara looks like

Ruddy & Sahara is a young adult english bulldog dog waiting at Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter in Newcastle.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ruddy & Sahara, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ruddy & Sahara?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ruddy & Sahara on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ruddy & Sahara if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ruddy & Sahara already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ruddy & Sahara isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ruddy & Sahara and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
