Rudi – Motivationscoach gesucht

Mixed Breed · Female

Rudi currently resides on pension with an adoption option at our shelter and is in the process of finding a new home in consultation with the responsible authority and the previous owners. Due to a biting incident with fellow animals, he has been classified as a dangerous dog. Although his previous owners initially fulfilled all requirements, the situation worsened in the household environment with one of the bigger kids, leading to Rudi not being able to stay. We are still in the getting-to-know-you phase, and everything is going well. Nevertheless, we present Rudi so that no straw will be left unturned. Our referral text is based on the reports from the previous owners, the current behavioral assessment, and the case files available to us. Living alone and car rides are not a problem for Rudi. So far, he has gone well with other dogs, showing little interest. His leash manners need to be trained, but he accepts the muzzle well. According to his previous owners, Rudi should be fed separately, as he does have claims to his bowl and its contents. Rudi passed his vet visit without issue. At the beginning, he shows some insecurity with new people but warms up quickly. Fact is, Rudi needs a home without other animals (perhaps a female dog could be considered—future possibilities) and without children. Up until now, he lived in a suitable apartment environment, and a Beagle mix was his companion initially. Also, it is a fact that boundaries and certain basic obedience skills need to be further developed. Rudi has grown up without strict rules and boundaries—up to a certain point, it worked well, but not forever. Rudi generally behaves neutrally, as long as he is not teased or overburdened with tasks. We believe teamwork is required here, and Rudi, despite his Molosser-dense skull, will not be easily overpowered. He loves to lie around comfortably, is not a barker, and is more of a laid-back type. We think he needs a fair and understanding approach. He has a healthy ego and is sometimes insecure. In an emergency, Rudi is not afraid to overcome his insecurity. He does not shy away from provoking situations. Rudi meets friendly strangers cautiously neutrally to ignorantly, and not much seems to lift his spirits. His muzzle is well trained, but during walks, he puts on a show with his weight, which is not for the faint of heart. Those interested in working with Rudi are welcome to contact us. We are happy to assist in fulfilling all requirements in cooperation with the previous owners and the responsible authority. This cat is to be kept indoors only.

About Rudi – Motivationscoach gesucht

What life with Rudi – Motivationscoach gesucht looks like

Rudi – Motivationscoach gesucht is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Schkortitz in Grimma.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rudi – Motivationscoach gesucht, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rudi – Motivationscoach gesucht?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Schkortitz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rudi – Motivationscoach gesucht on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rudi – Motivationscoach gesucht if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Schkortitz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rudi – Motivationscoach gesucht already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rudi – Motivationscoach gesucht isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Schkortitz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rudi – Motivationscoach gesucht and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
