Rudi

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Rudi is vaccinated, chipped, dewormed, neutered, veterinary examined and has an EU passport. Who am I? I am Rudi, a male mixed breed dog born around 08/2017 with a shoulder height of approximately 42cm. Currently I live in the Herzsprung animal shelter, but only temporarily. Because my caregivers are looking for a new home for me together with me. So we have taken some nice photos of me, so you can see how I look. And so you can also learn something about my personality, we are now writing a text about me. We dogs take on important tasks in the home and many of them fall me very easy. So I am a great cuddle partner who likes to cuddle with you and lounge on the couch together while being hugged. On sad or bad days I will comfort you lovingly and quickly bring a smile back to your face with my sweet round eyes. I am also a good fitness partner, because lying around on the couch is not all there is, because I am a lively and cheerful dog man. We will go for walks together, explore new things or just enjoy the beautiful nature. On meadows or in the park we will play and romp together. We will certainly meet new acquaintances and because I am a very tolerant dog, we will probably find new two- and four-legged friends quickly. And I would also be a good working aid, because while you do the household chores or do the garden work, I will be by your side and watch you do it. I will also encourage you by giving you a kiss. There are a few important things I need to learn for my future life. But with a loving consistent upbringing we will master that without problems. In my new home, responsible children are welcome, because I have a friendly nature towards them. As you may have already seen in the photos, I currently have skin problems due to an allergy. But my caregivers are already working with the veterinarian to treat this. And what do you say? If I would fit well into your family, then I would be very happy to get to know you personally. About Rudi

What life with Rudi looks like

Rudi is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Herzsprung.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rudi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rudi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Herzsprung handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rudi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rudi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Herzsprung will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rudi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rudi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Herzsprung early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rudi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
