Rudi

Mixed Breed · Male

Hello! My name is Rudi! I am an adult, medium-sized dog. I came to the animal shelter on October 30, 2023, after the death of my owner. My beginnings at the animal shelter were not easy. I don't trust every person I meet immediately. Trust is a process that cannot be rushed. At first, I am cautious and need more time to feel safe. The staff and volunteers have done their best to make me feel more secure. I am an active dog. During walks, I happily go ahead with my nose to the ground. I love sniffing, running, and fetching. I find my way well both in urban environments and open spaces - fields, meadows, and forests. I love water! In summer, I gladly cool off in rivers, ponds, pools (sometimes also in puddles)! I gladly cooperate for treats. I respond to calls and can politely pass by other dogs. I am looking for a home where only adults live (no small children). I need an active person, but above all experienced - someone who will give me time and space and focus on building a relationship. Maybe I'm not the dog who throws himself into someone's arms at the first meeting, but if someone just gave me a chance and wanted to work with me, I can open up - I will be a loyal companion and the best friend. Maybe it's you who will give me a chance? At the animal shelter I have been vaccinated, dewormed, and neutered.

About Rudi

What life with Rudi looks like

Rudi is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Zabrze in Zabrze.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rudi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rudi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Zabrze handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rudi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rudi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Zabrze will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rudi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rudi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Zabrze early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rudi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
